English Football poised to use Artificial Grass

With the improvements of artificial grass and the new 3G style pitches making an appearance all of the UK.  The F.A. have again considered the possibility of again using synthetic turf.

Artificial grass was banned from the football league in the early 80′s due to its poor quality and was said to be unfit for professional football.  Since the 80′s, the quality and technology involved in producing synthetic grass has come a long way.

The main problem with original ‘astro turf’ pitches were the grazes and burns incurred when sliding on the surface.  The material now used is much softer with a deeper pile and with spring back blades that prevent flattening.

Although artificial grass is still not considered for higher leagues because of in-consistences in game play, i.e. speed, ball roll, bounce differences.  Although for lower leagues, it is an ideal alternative and can help with finances due to less maintenance requirements and costs. It can also allow players to train on the same pitch as they play on without wear issues and extra groundsman duties.

This idea would be a welcome return to the artificial grass industry and help with the commercial sales for any artificial grass installer and manufacturer.

See our new Portfolio page

We have now added a range of new projects on our portfolio page to show off the new products.

We have now included some of the more difficult gardens that other companies wouldn’t touch, for example; we fitted a garden in Coventry that involved fitting around two trees.

This is never an easy project, but we are faced with challenges every day that we love to solve.

The result was a fantastic looking garden with the grass perfectly fitted around the trees.

Impartial pros and cons of an Artificial Lawn

There are a lot of eco-pros and cons to using synthetic turf.

In situations where the garden is sheltered and very little light is able to penetrate the area, the synthetic turf is just about the only green solution for a true, clean play surface. Also, in this application, we don’t have to worry about the one con usually brought up — that it gets hot. Here, that isn’t a problem.

Also on the plus side, the material is made from recycled plastic and held in place by recycled tire “crumbs.”

A two-stroke engine, the kind in lawn mowers, creates significantly more pollution than a car (since there is no catalytic converter), so with synthetic turf, that carbon load is eliminated. The surface is pervious and yet sheds water, if properly installed with 6 to 12 inches of drainage media beneath.

On the down side, synthetic turf can get hot and it doesn’t put oxygen back into the air. It’s not the right thing in all cases, but it is the groovy eco-solution in this situation.

Is Artificial Grass / Synthetic Turf safe for Children

Choice Floors artificial grass products are an ideal playing surface for children because its allergen free and will not leave grass stains on clothes.

The synthetic grass is a very soft and bouncy surface which absorbs shock much better than real grass and soil.

Our large ratio of rubber to sand gives us a real advantage to other artificial turf on the market. The rubber infill is non-toxic so there is no danger if ingested.

So to put many parents minds at ease, we guarantee that our artificial grass is safe for children, but also pets too.

What is synthetic grass / Artificial grass

Synthetic grass or artificial grass is a type of surface designed to resemble natural grass. Although it is meant to have a natural appearance, it is manufactured using solely synthetic materials. Artificial grass also tends to be harder than natural grass.

Traditionally, synthetic grass has been used in sports arenas where natural grass is difficult to maintain, particularly indoor arenas. The first break through in the use of synthetic grass was in the Astrodome located in Houston, Texas in 1965.

Artificial grass has now become hugely popular in residential properties and a recent boom has seen artificial grass companies increase to meet the demand. This boom is because of many factors, the main being that artificial grass has come along way since the early astro turf products found on small sports grounds like 5 aside pitches, this velvet like material is a poor example of how far artificial grass has come.
